Burry Stander Killed In Car/Bike Collision

Burry Stander Killed In Car/Bike Collision

BurryWe were very saddened to hear about the death of South African two-time Olympian Mountain Biker, Burry Stander (aka The Dart) on November 3rd at Shelly Beach, South Africa. Stander was hit and killed by a taxi while on a training run. He was just 25 years old.

Stander was the second leading cyclist to be killed in a road accident in South Africa in recent years. Carla Swart died in January 2011 when she was hit by a truck while training.

Tributes from mountain bikers everywhere have been pouring in and as a show of support many are wearing black arm bands.

The cycling world has been devastated by this tragic news.

Rest In Peace, Burry. Our hearts go out to your family and loved ones.
