The ITU World Triathlon Series has moved to Europe and kicked off in London. There has been a lot of hype around a few of the top triathletes competing this year and that last few races have been very close ties between Javier Gomez, Mario Mola, Richard Murray and the Brownlee brothers.
Last weekend, Mario claimed the first place in a neck and neck finish with Richard Murray. Afterwards, Mario wrote to us with an update on his progress.
The race was fast since the beginning. The swim course was quite packed, and I did a good swim, getting out of the water in 14th position. At the beginning of the bike course it was a short break away, but the chase pack merged in the second lap of the bike course. Then off the bike was when I started exhibiting the lead, the race was decided in the last km where a group of six were together, including The Brownlees and Gomez, but as the pace got faster, my rivals started dropping, and finally I beat Richard Murray in the sprint.
I am so happy how the season is going so far. Next race will be the French Grand Prix next weekend, and the WTS in Chicago.
Thanks to everyone at Token and all the best!
